Perm is a city with a highly diversified industrial complex. The industrial sector of the city comprises all the branches the combination of which provides stable economy.

35% of the industrial potential of the Perm region is concentrated in the city. There are over 170 large and mediumsize industrial enterprises in Perm.

The leading industries are machinebuilding, oil-refining and gas-processing, chemical and petrochemical, fuel and energy, engineering, metallurgy, food industry, wood-processing, pulp and paper.

The heavy industrial sector of Perm is well-established and is undergoing reformation along market lines.

Perm's two aircraft engine producers, Perm Motors and Aviadvigatel manufacture a variety of the latest Russian aero and space propulsion engines. The former's products also have power and pumping applications.

Motovilikha Works OJSC produces equipment for hydroelectric stations, spare parts for cars, unique oil field equipment, tools, and defense oriented products; Dzerzhinsky Machine-Building Plant produces motor saws, tableaux, medical high-frequency apparatus etc.

In the sphere of electrical engineering Morion JSC and Perm Scientific and Industrial Group are the leaders along with Perm Electrical Engineering Plant. They develop and produce communication and navigation systems, electrical instruments, seismic receivers, consoles for mobile electric stations and medical instruments.

The joint stock cable making company KAMKABEL, which has ISO 9000 certification, is the main Russian exporter of cables and wires to 80 countries.

The Perm Region rests on enormous oil and gas deposits. Unsurprisingly, oil-refining and gas-processing industries are well developed in Perm. The biggest enterprises of the industries are LUKoil-Perm Ltd., and LUKoilPernefteprodukt Ltd., the former being one of the leaders in motor oils production. Gas-processing industry is represented by such companies as Permregiongaz and Uralgazservice.

Perm is a strong exporter of goods (fuel, oil, fertilizers, paper and cardboard etc) to the UK, China, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Finland and the USA. The majority of imports (machines and equipment, mineral products, food etc.) come from the EU countries, China, the USA and the CIS.
