Innovation Development
The main premise of further development of the city is transition to a newer type of economic growth - innovation. Innovation processes aimed at sustaining growth with profit from current operations and new products will enable manufacturers to face stiff competition both on domestic and international markets.
By utilizing the principles of the innovation process in the daily conduct of business operations and the execution of development projects, more and more companies are becoming more proficient at innovation. In 2006 17, 2% of large and medium-size enterprises carried out innovation activities whereas in 2000 they were only 11, 3 %.
The most favourable situation is with the companies working in chemical, petrochemical and electrical engineering spheres. They improve strategic thinking and take timely actions to achieve faster cycle times, cost containment and quality improvements.
