How to get around
Perm is a regional business hub with a diversified economy and key elements of transport infrastructure.
Perm is located on the Trans-Siberian railroad which crosses the city (and the whole region) from east to west (the Trans-Siberian railroad). The Perm cargo train station is able to serve 130 trains daily.
• Perm is a major rail junction connecting the European part of the country (Moscow, Saint-Petersburg) with Ural and Siberian cities as well as with the capitals of China and Mongolia. Moscow-Perm train the Kama runs daily and the train journey takes about 22 hours.
• Bolshoye Savino is an international airport. Lufthansa Airlines is playing a great role in providing easy access to any country on the globe.
There are direct flights from Perm to Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Dushanbe, Erevan, Anapa, Krasnodar, Mineralnye Vody, Nizhnevartovsk, Norilsk, Samara, Sochi, Surgut, Baku etc.
• Moscow-Chita, Kazan-Perm-Yekaterinburg federal highways go through Perm. Due to the network of buses and taxis Perm is connected with many Russian cities and towns.
• Via the Kama river and the system of linking canals Perm has an access to five seas (the Caspian Sea, the Azov Sea, the Black Sea, the Baltic Sea and the White Sea). Two most easterly cargo ports in Europe are located in Perm.
River cruises to St. Petersburg, Moscow, Nizhniy Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don and Astrakhan are provided for all travelers.
Most people traveling from abroad to Perm use a flight to Moscow and continue by air from Moscow to Perm (which takes 1 hour 50 minutes) though some prefer to travel by train to enjoy the views (21 hour trip in a fast train with sleeping cars). When traveling by air, make sure that both flights use the same airport. For example, Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo International Airports are located on opposite sides of Moscow so the transfer may take considerable time.
An alternative route is to take a Lufthansa flight to Frankfurt with a connecting flight to Perm, another similar option is KD Avia (Kaliningrad Airlines)
